I guess even that last post was a mistake. Welp, no takesies-backsies now…

Folks, I am fine. I appreciate the gesture, but maybe this kind of massive “Let’s fight” response is the kind of thing we should avoid.

This place is a place where fans can come to share ideas and art with likeminded people. Its a place where people can leverage existing characters to hone their writing and world-building. Its even a place where people use familiar ideas and characters to help express their own sexuality, especially when that might be difficult to do elsewhere.

In short, it is awesome. It is a real thing worth respecting and preserving. I hate to see thunderclouds cast over it for any reason. Especially reasons related to me.

For those concerned I am shuttin’ down the Tumblr: I am not leaving. I am just going to be more sensitive about where I go and how/if I pipe up there. It is a pubic internet so I cannot promise I wont see your posts, but I need to find a way to not be intrusive about it and the easiest way to start that is by scaling back my interaction while I figure stuff out.

In the meantime, here’s the deal. If you mention my full name: I will see it. If I follow you and that makes you nervous, either block me or ask me to unfollow. I promise I will not be mad.

P.S., I do have xkit, folks. But I use mobile because I can swype faster than I can type one-handed, and I’m holding Vesper a lot.

Today someone explained to me that my attention to tumblr and my ability to find posts even when they’re not on my tag is threatening and worrisome. Evidently this practice is unusual and makes people in the fandom uncomfortable.

It seems that it’s not because I have misused this ability directly, but rather that the potential for misuse is there and that itself casts a chill over any sort of fandom connected to me. Couple this with just recently having an accusation that I make light of the struggles people have with self-harm, and I’m… not sure it’s wise I continue to use Tumblr the way I have been.

Pretty much at least once a week I receive a Tumblr mail from someone censuring me for abusing my “power,” such as it is. From folks saying my engagement with artists “leads them on and encourages them to work with you for free” to “what we do not need is another heterosexual white male telling stories to us” to “your relationship with Su disgusts me, you treat her like a slave” to “your engagement to the fandom makes me uncomfortable” and “never read the fan fiction, it is not for you.”

I honestly don’t know what any of this is. I never really considered the need to express that much care with “fans” because I’ve never had them before. I am starting to wonder if I’ve actually committed a terrible mistake.

So much of where I’ve gone with all this has been accidental. I had a chance to meet some Yogscast members, I had an opportunity to improve upon a modpack and work with an amazing community at FTB to do it, I had the good fortune of 3-5 months of relatively light work at a good job so that I could make time to kickstart that project.

Before all that luck, my youtube channel was stagnant and declining. It was doing so because my content is really nothing exceptional. Even playing on the Yogscast server, the only time anyone paid any attention to what I was doing besides a few dozen loyal RR folks was when Ridgedog decided to interact with me a bit. I owe them a lot for that, because without that I really don’t have much of a channel.

I guess things have just gotten out of hand, a run of good luck stemming from a fair sum of privilege and technical know-how.

I’m sorry I overstepped my boundaries, folks. I’m not sure how I’ll proceed from here. I think at the very least I’ll keep reblogging the awesome art I see and passing some of it upwards to other people on reddit and at the Yogs office. That, at least, should be harmless or net-good. I’ll do my best to let you all do your things, and if you want to engage me I’ll keep doing forums at my livestream where you can clearly opt-in.

donotchoosesidesyet was talking about wanting a cute more femme dress-thing design based on kd’s robes.
sO I was inspired.
but it ended up kind of being just. the same way that I usually draw kd’s robes only a little shorter. and with some different fabric for different parts, which means the draping looks ever so slightly different.
starring the lovely su as a model

So in this version the spit in the upper portion of the robe is just a detail?

I love how in fics and the general fandom interpretation of Strife and KD is like Strife being rly wary and apprehensive and suspicious and careful
And then canon!Strife’s like
/aims guns at KD
/outsasses KD
/muses about destroying the Twilight Forest and stealing all its resources for his own benefit to KD’s face

KD is… Indulgent?

I’m not sure if you picked up on the subtle cues in the first episode, but did you notice KirinDave never actually pointed a real weapon at W_Strife? That wand focus was in fact a tool he used to leave creeper graffiti on the walls.

Similarly, “wow that gun is amazing! Let’s see how hard it hits! *2 sticks appear* Such power!” Even in the flight speed a point was made.

For Strife’s part, he was mostly oblivious except for the deer-burning. He picked up on the fact that KirinDave was selling him a solution that was only partial, but realized that was better than nothing given that KirinDave can still turn him into a gravestone with any number of methods.

Which is not to say that Strife isn’t a political player on the server. He is, and his resource generation and cleverness are valuable to the politics of that world. But in terms of power? I don’t think he could stop the magic police, let alone a rampaging Parv or BebopVox.

If I do know anything, which I am not saying I do, I’d make sure not to reveal if I knew anything or did not, as either could be used to extrapolate.

So, no comment.

Well, my friend just gave me a really good KirinDave song. [x]

When I was hunting down Ridgedog and Bebop I was listening to this:

I didn’t say it’d be successful. Just confusing and painful.

whenever I get into something new you’d be sure I will be drawing them

a lot

Still loving this character style that’s slightly more feral, and Su now wishes I had antlers “for convenience.”

kit-draws:

been feeling pretty insecure about my art lately, i won’t let that stop me from making more… but i’ll probably not draw as much

For what its worth, I find your style refreshing. Su, a professional and trained illustrator, says it reminds her of 70s style pen art in magazines and that a a good thing.

I am so excited that you are into Su and KD, because that means you share absolutely lovely things with us.
